Digital Marketing – is it just being Digital or Interactive too ?

I was reading thought the Digital Marketing definition on Wikipedia and realized that it’s been updated to include TV & Radio – the traditional channels of marketing. If literally speaking, Yes TV & Radio too are digital channels – but then today pretty much everything is digital.

Philosophically Digital Marketing is about reaching out to your target audience though Interactive Channel – channels that facilitate a two way communication between the buyer & the seller; enables tracking user activity on the channel so it maybe related to resulting downstream business.

Traces of TV segment  – if we talk about TiVo & Interactive TV does meet the criteria to some extent , but does that qualify TV in general as a channel for Digital Marketing ??

Would like to hear your thoughts on this ……

P.S. : I’ve updated the Digital Marketing definition on Wikipedia to:

“Digital Marketing is the practice of promoting products and services using interactive digital distribution channels to reach consumers in a timely, relevant, personal and cost-effective manner.”
