So all speculations have been finally put to an END :-). EMC & FatWire announced (on 16th Feb 2010) that “They will jointly offer solutions for Web experience and brand management to help customers create engaging online experiences and ensure brand consistency”. So as part of this joint venture :
EMC acquired a minority stake in FatWire.
EMC & FatWire agreed to resell each others products – while EMC will resell FatWire’s comprehensive WEM (Web Experience Management) product stack replacing it’s existing WCM component, FatWire will resell EMC’s digital asset management (DAM) software including EMC Documentum® Media WorkSpace and EMC Documentum Content Transformation Services as its DAM offering
EMC & FatWire agreed for joint product development to extend the existing Documentum-FatWire integrations – which is quite logical.
So overall seems like a pretty interesting & unique agreement – this would have everyone happy specially those who were fearing that FatWire may vanish if ECM was to acquire Fatwire . The only ones who may have some concerns could be the EMC WCM customers – but I’m sure they’ll be delighted to move to FatWire.
I wouldn’t say that I was absolutely accurate in my speculation, but then I’m happy that I wasn’t way off either 🙂
